Things are happening and changes are taking place constantly
at Seeds In HIS Garden. On this page we will
provide you with reports from time to time which will
demonstrate that Seeds In HIS Garden is truly
making a difference in the lives of children once considered
worthless and hopeless.
EDUCATIONAL
NEWS: At Seeds In HIS Garden, the children
are educated through a home school program sent from the
United States. It is the A Beka Academy which is based
in Pensacola, Florida. FIRST
GRADUATES: In May2005, Jacintah Ndungu and
Sophia Kuria became the first two high school graduates
at Seeds In HIS Garden. They are now enrolled
in the United States International University in Nairobi.
Jacintah’s interest is in pediatric medicine and
Sophia’s is in international relations. Before
graduation, they were required to write a brief essay
on what their education meant to them. This is what
they wrote:
Jacintah
wrote: With my background and living in a third
world country, there was no hope for education. Having
been disassociated from the world of education, I
was susceptible to being an illiterate person for
the rest of my life. However, I do not believe that
was God’s intentions, for he brought along a
Good Samaritan, Rebecca Adams. She is a mother of
twenty-five of which I am one of them. Rebecca has
loved, cared, and gone through thick and thin for
our sake. Because she wants the best for us, she has
decided to give us the best education. I’m very
grateful for having Rebecca as my mother. She encouraged
and pushed for me to enter in the A Beka Academy program.
I had a poor education and the chances were slim,
but I worked hard and for the last four years of my
high school education, I have proven to myself and
others that achievement is done through effort and
perseverance. I believe that the standards of A Beka
are very high. These standards have brought discipline
in studying that I did not have before. As a Kenyan
citizen there is not much that Kenya can offer for
my future without an education; thus, I have learned
to strive for the best in order to make a difference
in the world and to the society I live in. A Beka
has prepared me to face other challenges that are
ahead of me in the realm of education and my future
goals in life. I have learned so many things about
the Bible, through all my bible classes of which I
feel is the greatest blessing that will never leave
my heart. I am very grateful for having taken A Beka
for the last four years of my high school education
so that I may encourage other to strive to give their
best to God and others in their lives.
Sophia
wrote: Living in a third world country, A Beka
Program can be considered a difficult educational
program. Kenya does not offer many resources relating
to the American standards to help enhance one’s
knowledge. Although I am an orphan living in a children’s
home, I am cared for by Rebecca Adams, who is now
my mother. Being introduced to the A Beka Program
for four high school years has brought a tremendous
change in my life. Being an AIDS orphan, we are often
forgotten, but A Beka has brought value and meaning
and most important a view of God’s purpose for
my life. One good example is when I look at my Business
Mathematics book. On the cover it reads, “Business
Mathematics: In a Christian Perspective.” At
first when I read the cover, I could not envision
how a mathematics book could relate to God. After
I became aware of the contents, I realized that God
is clearly the creator of every subject. Therefore,
A Beka Academy has planted something important into
my heart that will continue to transform my life and
others. I have learned that everything I do should
be done for the glory of God. My purpose is not for
men to be proud of, but rather for Him to be “well
pleased” with my service to Him. My eyes are
opened now to what the world really needs. It needs
people of integrity, respect, and who will make a
difference. I believe that A Beka has brought a goal
in focus for me. Because of my education, as well
as those who encouraged, I desire to love God and
others, and to make a difference in the world with
integrity of my faith.
OUTSTANDING
FRESHMAN: Eugene Otieno is a ninth grade student
at SIHG in the A Beka Academy program. He just
received his first semester grades. They would be considered
great anywhere, but for an abandoned child in Africa
they are truly remarkable!
